Stress is rarely only in the mind. A nervous system stuck in alert mode raises muscle tension, disturbs sleep, unsettles digestion and amplifies pain, and each of those feeds back into the stress. Patients often arrive for one of the symptoms and find the others improve alongside it.
Acupuncture acts on the stress response directly. It shifts the nervous system toward its rest‑and‑repair state, supports the neurochemistry of mood and sleep, and lowers cortisol. Most patients feel the change during the session itself, and with regular treatment it begins to hold between visits.
How we approach it
- Acupuncture, often with ear points, for nervous‑system regulation and sleep
- Cupping and medical massage for the neck, shoulder and jaw tension that stress builds
- Herbal support and food therapy for sleep and mood between sessions
- Breathing, movement and sleep‑routine guidance to take home
- Trauma‑informed care throughout; see post‑surgical and trauma recovery and veterans
What to expect
Weekly sessions for the first month are typical. Many patients sleep better after the first few visits; steadier mood and energy follow as the pattern settles. Acupuncture works alongside counseling and medication, and we ask you to keep your prescribing provider informed.
